Making Sense of Book Sense
Roughly a decade ago, Book Sense was started by a group of independent booksellers with the purpose of creating links and sharing information among people who love books. This increased the advantages of local, independent bookstores, which have personal connections and extensive service that large chains can never match. The ABA's intention was to enrich readers' experiences by finding exactly the books they sought, by suggesting other books that serve their interests and by connecting them with an entire network of book enthusiasts, providing an unparalleled place to share reading interests with one another. Book Sense has since changed its name to IndieBound, but still offers a myriad of the same reader-focused services.
